Penta Fencing Club News and Events
Penta Fencing Club Featured in Wilmington Advocate!Penta fencers were feautured in a great photo essay for the Wilmington Advocate. If you're interested in learning how to fence, please stop by on a Saturday afternoon to learn more about fencing lessons. Sessions run 12:00 to 3:00 and are on a drop-in basis. We have youth and adults who regularly participate and Penta coaches are on hand to add to the fun!
In addition to the photo essay, the Advocate also did a great interview with Vaho, "Wilmington school trains Olympic hopefuls." Penta fencers come from all over the greater Boston area, including Action, Andover, and even Plaistow and Salem, New Hampshire to fence at Penta and take advantage of training with Vaho, an Olympic medalist.
Fencing is also a great way to condition for other sports or to help sedentary children become more active and healthy in a fun environment. As Vaho says in the interview, "Fencing offers a challenging mix of physical and tactical training. As part of our training, we provide strength and conditioning, an added benefit for sedentary kids or for teen athletes who want to be stronger for other sports.” In fact, we've had overweight kids begin their training and once they get into the routine of attending classes plus open fencing, they lose weight and are much healthier and stronger!
Want to learn more about how fencing can benefit your child? Give Vaho a call!
Congratulations to all 13 Penta Fencers who qualified and 12 fencers who fenced at the 2010 Summer Nationals in Atlanta, July 2010
